GENERAL OBD-II CODE GUIDE
P0113Intake air temperature sensor 1 circuit high input
A sensor-circuit reading is outside the expected range; it does not prove the sensor failed.
WHAT IT GENERALLY REPORTS
A starting point, not a parts list.
The intake-air-temperature circuit reported a high input to the engine computer. “High input” describes the electrical signal category, not necessarily a high air temperature. The code alone cannot distinguish a sensor, connection, wiring, or control issue.
Common symptoms
- The check-engine light may be the only noticeable symptom.
- Starting, idle, or fuel behavior may change if the reported temperature affects engine control.
- The vehicle may continue to feel normal while the code is stored.
Possible causes
- An intake-air-temperature sensor or circuit condition.
- A connection or wiring issue, whose location depends on the vehicle design.
- A related intake or engine-control issue that requires data from the exact vehicle.
Safe initial checks
- Record the exact code and other stored codes; note unusually cold or hot conditions when it appeared.
- Observe whether starting or idle behavior has changed.
- Avoid unplugging sensors or touching wiring; use vehicle-specific service information for circuit checks.
When to get professional help
- A technician can compare reported intake temperature with other vehicle data and test the correct circuit.
- Use the maker’s service information to identify the sensor and wiring for the exact year, model, and engine.
